News: May 30, 2018

During the last weekend, the popular two-day event focusing on different areas within craftsmanship, handicraft, the built environment and different practices in conservation of the cultural heritage. The weather could not have been better for this kind of event, and there was many visitors coming for the different activities.

The department of conservation attended this year with an open workshop and demonstrations of traditional methods and tools for planed boards. It was a well-visited activity from the broad festival program. Everyone could try the plane tool and the practice themselves, but also there was lot of visitors that only stopped by for just a chat. Also, students from our bachelorprogram in Leadership in cultural handicrafts have been working with different projcets for the event during their internships.

A perfect weekend for a family activity

The lovely environment around the castle of Nääs was spectacular and the historical perspective of the area suited this kind of event perfectly. This event speaks even to those who do not have this burning passion for conservation issues or craftsmanship’s, because it is more of an family activity, a day trip, where you can buy different crafted products, arts, and food like bread, chutneys, colors or knitting’s. The closeness to the lake Sävelången and a small beach, together with a stunning weather made this year Reko på Nääs a real success.
