Research Methods in Cultural Heritage Conservation (7.5 hec)

This course introduces students to the skills and methods required to undertake research in cultural heritage conservation and report results.

The course covers a broad range of qualitative and quantitative research methods, and there is a focus on being able to understand, critically assess and plan a research project and know how to disseminate research results. Particular attention is given to preparations for the upcoming degree project. Students practice skills such as: formulation of research problems; critical assessment of literature; selection of appropriate methods; application of ethics in research; collection, analysis and interpretation of information and data; and dissemination of results.
